From the time I was a little child recognizing that I was missing a father until now I have longed to be a father. That dream first became a reality in 2007 when our oldest was born, and it became a reality for the 5th time when my youngest son was born in July of 2020. Prior to his arrival my passion for being a father found me embracing the title PASTOR DAD. I would tell people that ‘D.a.d.’ was and acrostic reminder that “Duties Are Delight, Delights Are Duty. I’d tell them that I have 5 Duties, they are my Delight. I have 1 Delight, she is my wife, and if she ever leaves me I am going with her, so she might as well save us gas!’
I love family and these are just a few of my favorite family photos. By no means am I a perfect father, but I am an intentional one. As a pastor and speaker I love to share the timeless principles of Leading Well rooted in Ephesians 6:1-4. I seek to allow this to color my approach to fatherhood, striving not to bore my child (being a buddy and giving them no purpose in life), floor my child (being a bully and giving them no permission to fail), or ignore my child (being too busy and giving them no presence in love), but instead I try to adore them (they are gifts), explore them (they are different) and implore them (they are kids) to chase their God-given dreams, believing that they are both dreamers (they want better, eternity is in their hearts) and schemers (they think they are better, sin is in their heart), what they need is a redeemer (should be dad in the home and Jesus in their hearts).
